Word Clouds

We explored Two Word Cloud Generators today, the first being Wordle, which was very basic (example top) and Tagxebo (Example bottom), which gave the option to put the words some shape from whales to peace signs.

make an avatar

DoppelMe:
pretty good, very limited. There are several things you cant change like the shape of face or individual features. But its very simple and good if you need an avatar quickly.

SP studio:
Awesome. It has lots of different options, making it so far the easiest to get the avatar to look like you want it to. Because of this probably my favorite.

OSOQ
Ek! My least favorite by far, there weren't very many options at all and you couldn't change the colors of things. Plus it was all very ugly to me.

Zui
I dont like this one for the same reasons i don't like the last one: lack of customization! Really why do they not give you the option to pick your own colors for things! Plus there was a lack of options for accessories, and it would have been helpful if i could have moved the features around manually with little arrows for this one.

im actually kind of proud.

Photo Editing

FotoFlexer:
Seemed pretty basic. Standad effects and such, maybe there could have been more...

Picmonkey:
I like this one. But it seems like all the coolest effects are for the premium upgrade. its probably the one  would choose above all, just for the pretty effects i don't have access to...sigh. This is the funnest one, but not so comprehensive, probably the best for making awesome profile pics though.

Before
After

Sumopaint: I don't have pictures for this one. Primarily because its frustrating as HECK! its probably a really good drawing app but this is a desktop computer and mouses also frustrate me (to draw with, i prefer them to the laptop finger-pad thing...but neither for drawing...). It was  really confusing, but i don't know much about this kind of thing, and i don't know what i'm doing really (required course, plus this is ninth grade), so its not the best for photo editing in my opinion, maybe if you can get it to work it seems like it has a lot of features. This is the hardest, by far if you've no experience with such things.

Pixlr: My favorite so far, it seems a lot like sumopaint, but i found it easier and actually managed to do something: Edited.                                                                                    Unedited:

It has good features. But it would be better than pretty much every other one i've tried so far for a more serious sort of project, and not a picture for facebook kind of thing. unless its a serious-ish thing you want to put on facebook...

Google Drive

There were some aplications for Google Drive i saw that looked like they could be helpful.
1. Floorplanner
It's pretty self explanatory, what it does. But its a neat concept nevertheless if you even need to see the layout of a room or design a room or something.

2. Hellosign
another interesting concept, and green too! you can sign documents, checks and stuff, request signatures, and save templates of documents to reuse.

3. Zoho writer
Its like Microsoft for Google drive. Based on costumer comments it sounds like it has a few issues that need ironed out however, like spell-check not being an automatic feature.

10 Google Easter Eggs

1. Do a Barrel Roll
you start to type this in and it does a barrel roll. Simple yet awesome.

2. Askew
if you ever need to search this word you'll find a very good example in the screen suddenly.

3.What is the loneliest number?
1 of course!

4. Zerg rush
Just type this in to be attacked by a bunch of little O's. kill them before they eat your search results!

5.I'm feeling...
Artistic, Hungry, Trendy...
just hover over the "i'm feeling lucky" button and see...

6. Festivus
Happy Festivus! those familiar with the show "Sienfeld" will probably get this one.

7. how many horns are on a unicorn?

Oh. well there ya go.

8. The answer to everything:

9. Faces of Pegman
On google maps, the little yellow Pegman can change based on where you put him! here he is in legoland!

10. Calculator heart
just type in:

sqrt(cos(x))*cos(300x)+sqrt(abs(x))-0.7)*(4-x*x)^0.01, sqrt(6-x^2), -sqrt(6-x^2) from -4.5 to 4.5

if you want to see this yourself.

Firefox Persona

I love this idea.

I'm a huge fan of customization already, be it with my clothing or I-pad or anything, anyway i can make something more mine I'm all for. Plus i love the variety available in getting to select from a bank of skins "personas" that other people have made. I'm artistically talented (or at least i'd like to think so) but if your good at something then theirs always a thousand more people out there that make yours look like crap. and that's definately the case here as well, some of the options are just beautiful! far prettier than anything i could ever create.

Feedjit

Another thing that we had to get and add to our blogger pages was feedjit.

It shows who visits your page, but it doesn't give specifics. It'll just say "a visitor from ___ looked at your page ___ ___ ago". Its alright. I'm not sure of the point of it really, but I'm honestly not very interested in that sort of thing. The number of people viewing my page is tracked in stats and that's what i care about, I don't really need a catalog of visitors. I'm not that obsessive.

Remember the Milk

A site to remind you of things. You make lists of things you don't want to forget, and it notifies you of them via email, SMS, and IMs. Also it can even show you where your tasks are located in real life and time, and lets you publish them too. Although I can see why it'd be helpful if other people got to view your errands, to avoid confusion, but it seems like your trusting people a bit to much with that.

Del.icio.us

This ones actually pretty cool. you can pretty much collect links to all the stuff you like from all over the internet. It has a social-media site feel to it, because you can brows links other people have liked and shared, as well as connect with people who like the same stuff as you via your links.  Additionally it could prove helpful for keeping track of all the random sites and information you find on a web. ever found a site, left it, then completely forget what it was/how to get to it? problem solved.

App vs. Site

This post is being written on the blogger app. The assignment being to write a comparison of the two. I'm leaning towards the website, mostly because I can't edit the blog here like I can on the website, or view stats or even the blogs I'm following.

But it's a good tool for making and managing posts it seems, since this is my first post on it this is pure speculation.

They each have their perks. I would rather make posts here, and do absolutely everything else on the website.

Symbaloo

Today we explored a website called Symbaloo, and now are to examine it. This is a screenshot of my Symbaloo. Its pretty empty. it only contains a few webcomics i'm following.

On to the actual analysis. The whole site's pretty much a bookmarks bar, but its a website. You can make any website into a tile. It seems like a good idea. i;m not sure if its more convenient since bookmarks are in that little bar at the top of the screen and are pretty much instantly accessible, and this is a website you have to go to, but hey, you could always just bookmark it! instead of making folders for different categories you make sharable "web mixes". Which is kind of neat.

I dont think its more convenient, but its a good idea and i'll definitely be using it to manage my websites.

Schedule Test

this blog should appear at 2:30 p.m.

My First Blog Post

Technically its the second.

Anyhow, My name is Dani, i'm 14 for a few more months, on Kansas day I turn 15. How funny, cause i live in Kansas.

I'm still not sure about what i'm going to do with this, i could publish stories, or make it into a Sims 3 legacy blog, or just talk about myself but who wants to read that.

This has been my brief (Not quite) first post.
